Lead Consultant

A fast-growing, global insurance technology consultancy is establishing and scaling its UK presence and is seeking a senior Underwriting Consultant to play a pivotal role in that growth.

With more than 1,000 professionals worldwide across Europe, Benelux, Japan and North America, the firm combines genuine international scale with a flat, entrepreneurial culture. The UK is a strategic priority, and this role sits at the heart of that expansion.

This is not a delivery-only position. It is a leadership mandate.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, you will take ownership of the underwriting competency, acting as the senior underwriting authority across UK and international engagements. You will shape how underwriting transformation is conceived, sold and delivered - spanning both business change and technology modernisation.

You will be trusted to set direction, represent the firm in senior client forums, and influence how underwriting capability is built globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own the underwriting vision, strategy and roadmap across the consultancy
  • Act as a trusted advisor to insurers on underwriting transformation, operating model change and technology-enabled modernisation
  • Lead and support presales activity, including proposition development, client conversations and thought leadership on automation, data-driven decision-making and modern underwriting practices
  • Sponsor and assure delivery across complex programmes, mentoring consulting teams and coordinating work across multiple geographies (with a strong European focus)
  • Collaborate with peers across data, cloud, automation and integration to deliver joined-up, end-to-end client solutions
  • Build internal capability through knowledge sharing, coaching and competency development

About You

You bring a strong blend of non-life underwriting domain expertise and consulting-led transformation experience. You are comfortable operating at C-suite level and have played senior roles in large-scale IT, digital or operating model change initiatives.

You are commercially minded, credible with senior underwriting leaders, and confident translating complex underwriting challenges into clear strategic and delivery outcomes. Experience with core insurance platforms is advantageous, but not essential.

You thrive in a low-hierarchy, high-accountability environment, are comfortable operating autonomously, and value collaboration over politics. Well connected in the London insurance market, you combine gravitas with pragmatism - direct, thoughtful, and impact-focused rather than sales-led.

Practicalities

  • London-based, hybrid working (2-3 days in the office)
  • Senior package commensurate with experience (circa £100k-£160k plus benefits)
  • Limited overseas travel
