As an employer, I was very interested to get access to the current Ones to Watch when I was building out my investment team. Positive referencing by one's peers is a credible indicator of quality and a very useful screen in selecting from the many candidates who are impressive on paper. Recruiting graduates from the Ones to Watch scheme has been a great success.

As a client of Freshminds, we are strong advocates of the Ones to Watch scheme. Any initiative which focuses on identifying the future leaders at the best universities in the UK is hugely important for a company such as ours; we only recruit the most exceptional candidates.

Ones to Watch
About the programme
Freshminds' Ones To Watch programme is the UK’s only peer-nominated talent spotting scheme. Through this, we welcome the best 100 graduates at Britain’s top 10 universities into the Freshminds network every year.
Their university peers nominate these outstanding students for being future leaders – they aren’t only academically gifted, but are also exceptionally talented in other areas. Star qualities include being commercially aware, self-starting and ambitious. Freshminds then selects the most outstanding 100 from up to 1000 nominations.
What we look for
- Outstanding students in their penultimate year
- Exceptional academics
- Positions of responsibility
- Well-rounded: extra-curricular achievements
- Driven, ambitious
We’ve grown this network since 2000 and there are over 3000 outstanding members. Ones to Watch can expect valuable help in progressing their careers, such as alumni networking and thought leadership events.
Our networking events
We run an annual networking event to welcome the new intake into our network which has been held at some great venues such as Amazon HQ, Innocent and the Mind Candy offices. We also invite alumni members from the past 16 years that the scheme has been running, many of whom are now in some really interesting roles from Facebook to The Cabinet Office.
As well as this, we run alumni dinners during the year to keep in touch with our group.
2018 Ones to Watch programme
To enter you must be nominated by a Freshminds student ambassador (usually a Ones to Watch in their final year). You must be in your penultimate year at one of the following universities: Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial, LSE, UCL, Durham, Warwick, Bristol, Edinburgh, Nottingham.
Think you have what it takes? Please get in touch - we'll put you in contact with a brand ambassador to talk about the possibility of being nominated.
