Last night, FreshMinds Talent hosted a fantastic event for some of our past and presentOnes to Watch. We chatted all things Digital Media atGoogle’s impressive London headquarters, with three brilliant speakers sharing their thoughts on the increasingly important role digital media has to play in business and society.

The event kicked off withFreshMindsandFreshNetworksCEOCharlie Osmond, who provided a summary of FreshNetworks recent projects, as well as an insight into his predictions for the growth of social media next year – including the increased integration of offline and online media as well as the rise of theMall Haulvideo. Not sure what they are? Have a look here:http://www.cbslimited.com/dresses/mall-haul/

Ade Oshineye then took to the floor. He’s a Developer Advocate for Google and talked through the Google Master Plan: Everything you ever wanted to know about our business model and strategy but were afraid to ask. This included the reasoning behind their strategy of openness, an explanation of Google ads in five minutes, an insight into auction theory, and a glimpse into the future of Google (which includes cars that drives itself - and they already have one of these to play with!)

Finally, Ones to Watch alumni Saalim Chowdhury, delivered a passionate presentation about the future of newspaper journalism in the online world. He’s achieved great things since graduating from Cambridge University. Formerly a senior executive at Rupert Murdoch’sNews Corp’s first newspaper start-up, thelondonpaper, today he runs a small consulting firm working with large publishers and start-ups on their digital media strategy, ranging from Paywalls to iPads. He is also setting up a new iPad publishing business of his own.

The event was a great opportunity to network with some of the brightest and best that FreshMinds has to offer, and ended with a lively (and not a little controversial!) debate about Google’s monopoly over the online world, along with some good old fashioned festive cheer. Until next year…
