Our Client

Our client operates in the field of health and social care. The Chair and Co-Founder were in a position to optimise and grow the business, following on from significant investment from a family office and post-Covid environment.

In addition, the business had made three acquisitions in August 2022. There was a requirement to ensure all assets were running as effectively and efficiently as possible. To meet this requirement, Freshminds ran a retained piece of work to find a high-impact Chief of Staff for the business.

Key Challenges

1) Subject expertise: the role would require some experience in the social care space - a specialist area.

2) Broad experience: the ideal candidate would need to head up improvement projects, as well as to lead on potential acquisitions and expansion.

Our Approach

Freshminds screened over 900 applications for the Chief of Staff position, having headhunted around 30 people on top of our existing network of more than 24,000 candidates.

Our team spoke to around 50 - 60 candidates and met with 15. From these meetings, the shortlist was narrowed down to our top six before introducing them back to the client to commence second-stage interviews.

The client interviewed all the final stage candidates before arriving at two excellent individuals, whom he felt could both utilise their previous consulting training to execute the elements of the role to the highest degree.

Rather than choose between them, the client decided to appoint both candidates; one to focus more on the operational and financial piece and one to focus more on the growth and strategic plans.
