Freshminds worked with the investment team of a mid-market private equity firm to support one of their portfolio businesses operating in the retail space for household pets. The company required support with interpreting their data and implementing a reporting structure to understand category performance and possible opportunities across markets.

What Freshminds Did?

Freshminds took time to understand the ideal outcome for the business and their motivations behind the project. This led to the engagement of an interim Business Analyst across a two month period to complete the work.

The Analyst first went about gathering the data from various sources and analysing the category performance, including sales and marketing
data. She then worked closely with the internal stakeholders to develop a suitable reporting structure including an easy-to-use and easy-to-visualise
reporting dashboard built through Tableau. Finally, the Analyst produced a report on PowerPoint to highlight the key trends and insights.


After the successful roll-out of the reporting dashboard, the portfolio business was able to identify high and low performing categories across each market and utilise the insights to make business-critical decisions about their products and potential new opportunities in the space.
