FreshMinds Graduate on BBC Three’s Up for Hire Live

by Soraya Pugh October 21, 2011

The Freshminds Graduate Team were invited on to BBC Three’s Up for Hire Live show to help with the debate on youth unemployment. The show over four days has tackled issues such as the value of university, work experience, nepotism, how to differentiate yourself in the graduate market and much more. Freshminds Graduate were positioned in the CV hub in the live studio helping audience members with their recruitment queries. The show has stimulated ample debate on how to tackle the rising numbers of youth unemployment.

Our position at Freshminds is a positive one – there are still lots of companies hiring and there is ample opportunity out there despite the economic climate. There is always a demand for the brightest and best candidates but employers have high expectations. At Freshminds, some of our clients will go as far as to specify the degree, the institution and the result they want from a graduate. Commercial or sector specific work experience is often a prerequisite in some sectors but bear in mind that you need to ensure the path you choose is relevant to the career you want to pursue.

And, finally, don’t forget that you don’t have to follow a conventional route. There are so many different options out there. Freshminds is helping the New Entrepreneurs Foundation to find their 2012 class of young entrepreneurs.  More to come on this next week.
