Why be an Interim?

August 26, 2011

Once upon a time a person would go to university, graduate, get a job, do that job for the next forty years and then retire. This is rarely the way either individuals or companies operate anymore and indeed many people choose to work instead as an interim worker or a contractor for a period of time.

It’s very easy to see why: it allows greater flexibility, choice and variety as well as the chance to gain a wide range of experience and skills in a short time which can then be used to apply for much more desirable and interesting permanent positions. In short, it’s a fantastic way to build up your CV quickly without being tied down to any one company, role or industry. All that and it’s very well paid too! The question really should be; why wouldn’t you be an Interim!
