Interim MD / Commercial Director, high growth start up

£750 - £1050 per day

An exciting start up, founded in 2010 and backed by leading venture capital firms, is looking for a consultant to lead the commercial and sales strategy. They are an online marketplace, which connects customers and sellers in an easy and effective way. The company has raised over £48m in funding since its launch, and has been growing dramatically over the past years: their team is now 200+, based across Europe.

Due to their fast growth, the Founder and CEO is looking for an MD on a permanent basis to lead the commercial function of the business. Whilst in the process of finding the best fit for the role, he would like an interim consultant to solve some immediate strategic needs. You’ll report directly to the Founder and CEO.

Objectives will include:

  • Manage the commercial team of 40 Account Managers and provide sales leadership
  • Create an analytical framework to optimise the sales strategy, including:
    • Customer segmentation
    • Definition of what ‘good’ looks like
    • Market penetration strategy
    • Sales performance tracking
  • Work closely with the new Head of Operations to improve processes and ensure excellent service delivery

Consultant profile:

  • Experience leading the sales / commercial function of a business e.g. General Manager, Commercial Director
  • Strategy consulting background and an analytical approach
  • Exceptional client engagement skills
  • Previous experience in a start-up / growth stage business would be beneficial

  • Day rate: £750-1050 LTD
