Interim CMO, E-Commerce

£1000 - £1500 per day

An eCommerce company with a £280m turnover requires an interim CMO for 3-6 months. This position involves leadership/stakeholder engagement, marketing and digital innovation and is responsible for a £25m marketing budget, 4 direct reports (all senior level marketing managers) and a wider team of 70. The organisation was acquired by a private equity company in 2016 and is going through a period of growth and transformation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading the marketing function - creating a culture that encourages innovation, customer centricity and high performance
  • Evolving current marketing strategy and execution plans - continually assessing, innovating and adapting to meet new market realities and keep ahead of competitors and customer expectations
  • Optimise the marketing spend (£25m) - increasing return on brand spend and achieving resource efficiency
  • Leading the development of appropriate agency and 3rd party relationships and ensuring performance criteria are met (Creative, Media and Performance)


Candidate Requirements:

  • Previously held similar positions of responsibility - leading and managing digital marketing teams
  • Experience of working for B2C brands
  • Accountable for managing marketing budgets (ideally £15m+)
  • Excellent track record of delivering growth through innovation and change


  • Start date: immediate
  • Duration: 3-6 months
  • Day rate: £1,000 - £1,500 (depending on experience)
  • Location: London
