A strategic move to Munich to join Global Insurer

A leading Global Insurer came to Freshminds to help them find analytical Minds to join their strategy team in Munich. We set out on an extensive recruitment campaign to find consulting skill set graduates to help them expand both their strategy department and their UK presence. From a shortlist of 7 we found 3 fantastic candidates who were shortly winging their way to a new job and a new life in Munich.  

The brief

With their central strategy team based out of Munich, our client - a leading global insurer - wanted to increase their exposure amongst the UK graduate market. They needed strategy analysts with fantastic quantitative and qualitative skills, some prior corporate experience, and a desire to want to work abroad. 

Who they needed:

  • They wanted to increase the UK presence of their brand and internal strategy team, which meant that they wanted us to target the very best graduates from UK universities
  • The best candidates with a consulting skill set to help them achieve their goals of market expansion
  • Graduates who were outgoing and happy to take on responsibility
  • These minds would be involved in a wide range of market sizing projects/strategy initiatives so the ability to analyse large amounts of data and draw insightful conclusions for the wider business was essential.

Challenges:

  • Working abroad: It can be difficult to find candidates who are happy to relocate
  • It can be tricky to find candidates that are looking to work in strategy in the Insurance sector

What Freshminds did

  • Took a detailed brief to fully understand the requirements, roles, company and fit.
  • Launched an extensive marketing, networking and head-hunting campaign.
  • This was followed by a rigorous screening process.
  • Managed the recruitment process end-to-end, holding our own assessment centre prior to one run by the company’s senior management team in Munich.

Results

  • Provided a shortlist of 7 candidates, who we invited to the Freshminds office for a mini assessment centre
  • Out of the shortlist of 7 candidates, 4 went to Munich for a final assessment centre and 3 were offered positions at the company – and all 3 promptly accepted!
  • We provided the client with access to a pool of first class graduates to help grow their multi-national consulting team and increase their brand presence at top UK universities
